Synopsis:

When marriage plans between childhood sweethearts It (Khan) and Paro (Rai) are thwarted by their parents, a rift is created between the two families. Paro is married off to a rich older man, leaving the two lovers terribly unhappy. Tormented by his longing for Paro, It turns to alcohol for comfort, even refusing the advances of the beautiful courtesan Chandramukhi (Dixit). Paro, meanwhile, is miserable with her luxurious yet emotionally empty new life.
