So the story actually starts out slow with Dhanush playing this down-on-his-luck guy who is just trying to survive the crushing reality of the streets, and he's walking around with this unbelievably hideous neon green windbreaker that looks like it was fished out of a dumpster behind a closed-down disco, and I couldn't stop staring at it for twenty straight minutes because the zipper is broken and it just flaps around awkwardly every time he dramatically turns his head to look at a passing bus.

And then Rashmika Mandanna shows up as this fiercely ambitious woman who refuses to take crap from anyone, and she's got her own massive set of problems involving sketchy financial deals and dangerous people who want to silence her, and she and Dhanush end up crossing paths in the most bizarre way possible when she accidentally drops her expensive smartphone right into his bowl of street-side soup.

Stuff happens so fast.

Bagavathi Perumal enters the frame as this slick corporate shark with a terrifyingly clean haircut who is pulling all the strings from a high-rise office building filled with glass walls and expensive plants, and he’s talking on his phone in half-whispers while looking down at the rainy traffic like he's the evil mastermind of the entire universe.

Before you even have time to process who is double-crossing whom, we smash cut right into the interval block where everyone is suddenly dancing in a glowing neon warehouse to a wildly upbeat track that completely clashes with the dark, gritty tone of the previous forty minutes, and honestly, why do bollywood directors always think we need a high-energy dance number right when the protagonist's life is literally falling apart?

The second half hits and it’s absolute chaos.

Secrets are spilled, double-crosses multiply like rabbits, and someone gets hit over the head with a heavy metal desk lamp in a scene that went on for way too long.

Dhanush gets framed for a massive corporate crime he didn't commit, and Rashmika has to run through three different neighborhoods while wearing heels that make an aggressive clicking sound on the pavement.

They figure out Bagavathi Perumal is the main villain behind the grand conspiracy to steal millions from public accounts.

The climax takes place in an abandoned shipyard during a torrential downpour where nobody can hear anything over the sound of thunder and dramatic orchestral stings, and characters are yelling lines like you're going to pay for what you did at me through clenched teeth while holding rusted iron pipes.

Dhanush leaps across a gap between two shipping containers, tackles the bad guy through a rotten wooden fence, and leaves him lying face down in the mud while the police sirens finally wail in the far distance.
