Karan Deol is dangling completely upside down off a jagged, freezing Himalayan cliff face while Sahher Bambba screams at the top of her lungs at him because some random avalanche or snow slide just ruined their peaceful trekking trip and honestly my palms were sweating the entire time watching this absolute chaos unfold in theaters.




Look, let us back up a bit because this entire mess starts way before anyone is hanging from icy rocks, kicking off the whole journey with a romance-heavy setup typical of modern bollywood movies where a rich social media influencer named Saher Sethi runs a successful adventure tourism camp in Manali and she decides to book a high-end expedition led by a rugged, brooding local mountain guide named Karan Singh Shergill who totally hates city people and refuses to smile at all.




And then boom, they head up into the mountains together and they bicker constantly over every little thing, especially when they have to share a tiny tent during a freezing storm and she keeps complaining about the lack of Wi-Fi while he just glares into the campfire looking like he's auditioning to star in all the sadder hindi movies playing at your local cinema, but slowly, through a bunch of gorgeous drone shots of snow caps and awkward conversation, they start catching feelings for each other.




Honestly, I cannot stop thinking about this one random background extra wearing a neon yellow puffer jacket that looks straight out of a nineties ski catalog who just stands there eating instant noodles during a serious emotional confrontation between the leads.




They return from the trek and things get super messy because her wealthy, controlling father thinks Karan is totally beneath her social status and hires a slimy ex-boyfriend to frame the poor guide for vandalism and theft, leading right up to the massive interval point where Saher has a dramatic meltdown in a crowded cafe and breaks down crying right before the house lights come up for intermission.




Right after the break, because bollywood is contractually obligated to confuse its audience, we get a completely random song and dance sequence that interrupts the tension where they are suddenly prancing through green meadows despite the fact that the plot was literally just revolving around a ruined reputation and a police investigation.




Stuff happens so fast now that you can barely breathe, like Saher's dad forces her to get engaged to the slimy ex-boyfriend at a lavish luxury resort while Karan gets kidnapped by local thugs and beaten up in an abandoned warehouse, but he escapes using sheer mountain-climbing upper-body strength and runs across a rushing river just to crash the engagement party.




He bursts through the double doors, yells out a dramatic monologue about true love transcending class divides, and then her dad threatens to shoot him right on the spot with a vintage hunting rifle mounted on the wall.




Saher finally grows a backbone, tells her awful father that she's done living her life according to his corporate spreadsheet rules, drops the engagement ring onto a silver serving tray, and runs away with Karan into the dark rainy night.




They drive all the way back to Manali to hide out in his mountain cabin, but the vengeful father tracks them down with a private security team, forcing our lovers to flee upward into the dangerous, freezing alpine peaks where that insane opening cliff-hanger scene finally takes place.




And then in a single rushed breath, the evil dad's helicopter crashes into a snowdrift, the bad guys get arrested by local forest rangers, and the parents suddenly have a change of heart after watching the kids survive sub-zero temperatures.




Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas wraps up its runtime with Karan and Sahher hugging tightly in the middle of a sunlit snowfield, smiling directly into the camera as the final credits start rolling on screen.
